Frequently Asked Questions
What does a home inspection cover?
A residential home inspection is a visual inspection of the accessible parts of the house: roof, exterior, structure and foundation, attic, electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling, and the interior. You get a written report that explains what was found and which items matter most.
Can I come along to the inspection?
Yes, and Alexander encourages it. Walking the house together is the best way to understand what you are buying, and you can ask questions as they come up.
How long does an inspection take?
It depends on the size, age and condition of the property. A condo takes less time than a large older house. You will get a time estimate when you book.
When should I book an 11-month warranty inspection?
Book it a little before your builder’s one-year warranty ends, usually around month ten or eleven. That leaves time to send the builder the list and have the repairs made under warranty.
What is the difference between a Walk & Talk and a full inspection?
A Walk & Talk is an informal walkthrough: Alexander points out visible concerns and answers your questions on site, but there is no written report. A full home inspection is more thorough and comes with a written report.
Do you offer thermal imaging?
Yes. Thermal imaging is available as a standalone service or as an add-on to a home inspection.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Alexander Ziehler holds Virginia home inspector license #3380002403 and has passed the National Home Inspector Examination (NHIE), and Blue Eagle Property Inspections is insured. You can look the license up on the Virginia DPOR website.
Which areas do you serve?
Northern Virginia and Washington, DC, including Arlington County, Fairfax County, Loudoun County, Prince William County, Culpeper County, Fauquier County, Warren County and the City of Alexandria.
How much does an inspection cost?
Our prices are upfront and transparent. The price depends on the property and the services you choose: use the quote form on our Pricing page to see the price for your home before you book online.
